How can the helicopters hover in the air while the aeroplannes cannot?
A helicopter flies due to the lift created by the spinning of the rotor blades on top of it at a very high speed. It doesn’t have to move forward to create the lift and that’s why it can hover at one place in mid- air.
On the other hand, an aeroplane flies due to the lift created as the air flows over its curved wings. It is necessary for the plane to move forward at a great speed to create the lift. That is why an aeroplane cannot hover at one place in the air.
