How do the rockets go up in the air?

Rockets use the principle of action and reaction to go up into the air. Hot gases produced as a result of the burning of fuels rush out of the rocket at the bottom with a great speed. An equal and opposite reaction of the down going gases pushes the rocket up with a great speed.
