When was the washing machine invented?
The first washing machine was invented in 1782. It was a wooden tub filled with hot soapy water. In the 1800s, machines had a mangle above the tub to squeeze water out of the washed clothes.
In 1858, Hamilton smith designed a new washing machine which was improved in several ways till the beginning of the 2011, century.
In 1907, Alva Fisher of America built the first electric washing machine. This had a motor which turned a drum containing the clothes. In 1924, an advanced washing machine that combined the jobs of washing and drying was invented which has become very popular device today with a lot of improvements.
