Bahinabai Chaudhari
Bahinabai Chaudhari, 1628-1700, Maharathi saint and poet. Daughter of a Brahmin, Aooji Kulkarni and his wife Janakibai, who lived in a village near Ellora caves, she was betrothed at the age of four to Gangadhar, a man of 30 years. The family later moved to Kolhapur and then to Dehu near Pune when she became a disciple of saint Tukaram, which was first resented by her husband. She also met Ramadas, the guru of Shivaji. She wrote considerable devotional and spiritual poems.
