Charumati
Charumati, 1960, princess of Kishangarh. Also known as Rupmati, she was betrothed to Aurangzeb by her brother. As she did not want to marry a Mughal, she wrote to Raj Singh of Mewar to save her. Raj Singh, with the help of his army, was able to rescue her, and forced her brother to marry her to him, in 1660. Aurangzeb was very infuriated and detached a part of the territory of Mewar, but was helpless to dissolve the marriage.
