Gauharara Begum
Gauharara Begum, 1631-1706. Mughal princess. Daughter of Shahjahan and Mumtaz Mahal, she was born at Burhanpur, and it was during her birth that Mumtaz Mahal died, on 17 June 1631. She was the youngest sister of Dara Shukoh (d. 1659) and Aurangzeb (d. 1707) though she was not a partisan. She also brought up and reared Salima Begum, one of the daughters of Sulaiman Shukoh who was executed by Aurangzeb in 1660. She and Aurangzeb were the last of Shahjahan’s children to be left alive.
