Clark Gable
Clark Gable (1901-60), US film actor, for many years the most popular leading man in. Hollywood. He first appeared in major roles in the 1930’s, when his numerous films included Strange Interlude (-1932), It Happened One Night (1934), and Mutiny on the Bounty (1935), Perhaps his most famous role was as the unsentimental Rhett Butler in Gone with the Wind- (1939). In 1945 Gable returned to the screen after four years’ service in World War II but never regained his former preeminence. He died of a heart attack after completing The Misfits (1960). His third wife was the actress. Carole Lombard (1908-42).
