Mangamma
Mangamma, 1707, princess of Madura. Daughter of Tupakula Nayaka of Chandragiri and a courtesan, she became the wife of Chokkanatha Nayaka of Madura. She ruled the kingdom as a regent to her grandson Vijayaranga from 1689 to 1707. She accepted the supremacy of Aurangzeb, as the only way to check the disintegration of the State threatened from all sides.
