Sikandar Begum
Sikandar Begum, 1816-68, ruler of Bhopal. Daughter of Nazar Muhammad Khan of Bhopal and Qudsia Begum, she was married to her cousin Jahangir who died in 1845. – She became the regent to her daughter Shah Jahan Begum, in February 1847, and when her daughter abdicated in 1860, she became the ruler of Bhopal. She died on 30 October 186 and was succeeded by her daughter. She was a very capable ruler, and was loyal to the British government during 1857.
