Leonardo da Vinci
Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519). Italian artist, scientist, and engineer. He trained as a painter in Florence and his few surviving works include the Mona Lisa (now in the Louvre, Paris) and the fresco The Last Supper (in Milan). Living mainly in Milan and -Florence, he also worked as a military engineer and made copious notes on his investigations of architecture, anatomy, biology, military and civil engineering, mathematics, and )music. The most famous collection of his notes, which includes drawings of a tank, a helicopter, and a sub-marine, is the Atlantic Codex in Windsor Castle.
