Success awaits the courageous, defeat dogs the footsteps of the coward. He who risks everything wins laurels.
There is a Sanskrit couplet to this effect ‘Fortune favours the hard-working lion; the cowards talk of the gifts of God.’ Set aside the habit of staring at fortune to grant something, and work your hardest. If you fail even after this, it is not your fault. Alexander, Napoleon, and a host of others, who continue to shine unfadingly in the history of the world, were all brave men and rose to be the great conquerors of mankind. It is the brave English sailors who founded the mighty British Empire. If they had been afraid of the mountainous waves of the great oceans, distant unknown lands, inhospitable shores, and inclement climates, they would not have established the empire on which the sun never set.’ It was the courage of the British sailors that led to the famous saying: Britannia rules the waves. By ruling the waves, they ruled the world.
