We are not satisfied to be right unless we can prove others to be wrong
Man is an egoistic animal. He believes in rationalizing-in proving that he is right, and this rationalization is thoroughly ineffective if it naturally does not prove that others are wrong. In fact, all thinking, all thought is relative. Right is relative and so is wrong. You are right, implies that the other person who does not share your viewpoint is wrong. In an exchange of arguments or in a debate, if a debater is to plead his point of view, he must prove most eloquently that his opponent is entirely in the wrong. The proposition that you are in the right, is inseparably linked with the proposition that your opponent is in the wrong. Both are proved in the same breath. Human nature being as it is, one’s ego or in other words, sense of right is not confirmed if one does not prove amply and demonstrably that one’s opponent is wrong.
