Ratan Tata
He is the present chairman of the Tata Group, the largest conglomerate of India, founded by Jamsedji Tata and consolidated and expanded by later generations of his family. Ratan Naval Tata was born on December 28, 1937, in Mumbai. He was named the chairman of Tata Industries in 1981. In 1991 he took over the chairmanship from J.R. D. Tata. Since then, he has been reshaping the fortunes of Tata Group.Under the chairmanship of Ratan, on January 31, 2007, Tata Sons successfully acquired Corus Group, an Anglo-Dutch aluminium and steel producer. On March 2006, under him, the Tata Motors brought over Jaguar and land Rover from Ford Motor Company. Today Tata Group has the largest market capitalisation of any business house on the Indian Stock Market.
