Effects of Tsunami
At the bottom of the deep sea a violent movement occurs in the sea water due to the effect of earthquake for the friction of Tectonic plate. In Japanese it is termed as ‘Tsunami’.
One or two three waves from for a small earthquake in the sea. The waves travel 700 to 800 kilometer per hours in deep sea area. The waves are nearly 2 meter high.
Tsunami cannot be understood when it travels the deep sea due to its huge wavelength and less height. But when the waves approach in the shallow sea the wavelength becomes less height. But when the waves approach in the shallow sea the wavelength becomes less and the height of the waves increases up to 15 meters or more than that.
On 26th December 2004, lives of over one million people were affected and lakhs of people died for the Tsunami disaster which occurred in Southeast Asia, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and India.
