A Merry Heart Goes All The Way
Life is a struggle, after all. It is full of ups and downs. Those who take it cheerfully and optimistically succeeded in it; and those who succeeded in it; and those who get depressed and despondent in the midst of trials, fail in it. Life is a sort of journey from birth to death. One who does not lose his heart in the face of hurdles in the way, and who with a merry tune on his lips and a smile radiating from his face, ever moves forward and forward, is sure to make the most of life and derive maximum enjoyment from this journey. A melancholy mind soon gets sick of the world and sometimes this sickness assumes such a huge proportion that he begins contemplating suicide. A torn and tormented mind afflicted with hypochondria, as it were, achieves little in life. In fact, life is only meant for gay and whistling souls—for optimists—for them who sing away the griefs of the way. A merry heart, not only itself goes all the way, but it also vitally helps other less merry hearts in going the same way. Cheerfulness is infectious—twice blessed in the sense that a friend of a cheerful person cannot be cheerful. A merry heart is the greatest blessing of God. A depressed heart is always depressing others.
