Handsome is that handsome does
Real beauty does not lie in physical appearance but in the goodness of heart which is reflected in good deeds. A handsome person attracts our attention and wins our admiration for the time being. But if he is only good-looking and is not handsome in mind and soul also, our admiration will soon give way to contempt. It is often seen that a beautiful exterior is seldom accompanied by an equally beautiful interior-a heart of gold. Physical and spiritual beauty do not go hand in hand. A beauteous physique often harbours a devilish spirit. These people belie their appearances; they put good features to shame with their evil deeds and unkind acts. Shakespeare has rightly condemned such persons and called them the associates of the devil. He compares them to empty trunks decorated by the devil to tempt people, and mislead mankind. In nature there’s no blemish but the mind/none can be called deformed but the unkind Virtue is beauty, but the beauteous evil/Are like empty trunks over flourished by the devil. “Virtue is beauty.’ An honest and virtuous man is the most beautiful work of God. Physical beauty is only skin deep. It easily withers away. But his good deeds make a man immortal. It is, therefore, correct to say that ‘handsome is that handsome does.’
