What is this life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare
The modern age is the age of speed, of hurried movement and busy business. The easy tenor of life has given way to hectic activity. In the mad rush of this busy world, everyone seems to be short of time because time has become money. Everybody is running about his business at neck break speed, his mind full to the brim with millions of nameless and insignificant anxieties. This feverish activity is devouring his time & energy and robbing him of his peace of mind. He is so engrossed in his petty pursuits that he has no eye for the beauty of nature and no ear for the murmuring sounds of her rivulets. He is blind to the beauty of the night studded with diamond-like stars. He cannot, even for a moment, lay down the tiresome burden off his shoulder and bury his mind in the beauty of nature and art. He cannot ‘stand and stare’ with a carefree mind at beautiful things made by God or man. Business, which was once the salt of life, has become its curse which he cannot get rid of. Real appreciation of beauty requires, among other things, peace of mind and leisure, and both are denied to him. Is this the life for which man was made?
