Mirabai
Mirabai was born in 1503 in the royal family of Mewar. Her mother died when Mirabai was about four, and Mirabai was raised and educated by her grandparents. Music was stressed in her education.
She was a great devotee of Lord Krishna. She was married to the Rana of Mewar. Even there Mira continued to worship Krishna. The Rana was very much annoyed because he began to feel neglected. Her husband died only a few years later.
Every day Mirabai visited temples. She sang and danced in front of the idol of Lord Krishna. She became very famous all over the region.
Mirabai wrote hundreds of songs. She wrote her songs in Rajasthani and Braj Bhasa languages, and they were translated into Hindi and Gujarati.
Mirabai faced many troubles. But she did not bother about anything and continued to worship Lord Krishna.
Mirabai died in 1546. Her bhajans are very famous and sung everywhere.
