How is the exact carat of gold measured?
Carat is the measure of purity of gold. Pure gold is of 24 carats. While for making ornaments, gold of 24 carat or lower value is used as pure gold is soft and can be easily bent. The exact quantity of gold can be found out by using a number of methods. A fast and easy method is spectrography. Chemical analysis is a time consuming but accurate method. Measuring the density of the metal is another method which tells the ratio of pure gold to additives.
