Khas Mahal, Nawab
Khas Mahal, Nawab, 1856, princess of Avadh. She was the principal consort of Wajid All Shah (deposed 1856) the last ruler of Avadh, who bought a big mansion, Chan Lakhi (`worth-four-lakhs’) for her. During the great mutiny of 1857, his other consort Hazrat Mahal held her court here. This title of Nawab and Mahal was conferred upon her by the king.
