Begum Jahanara Shahnawaz
Begum Jahanara Shahnawaz, 1896, political worker. Daughter of Sir Muhammad Shafi of Lahore, she married Mian Shah Nawaz in 1911. She was closely associated with the Muslim politics and Muslim League and was the first woman on the Executive Committee of the All India Muslim League. She was also a delegate to the Round Table Conference at London in 1930-32. In 1917, she moved a resolution against polygamy at the All India Muslim Women’s Conference, which was passed.
