Kanunga, Nandu Behn
Kanunga, Nandu Behn, 1887-1950, political worker. Wife of Balvant Ra Kanunga, a close associate of Sardar Patel, she participated in the Non-Cooperation Movement (1920-21) and the Civil Disobedience Movement (1930-32) and also led the women volunteers at the Ahmedabad session of the Congress in 1921. She played a leading role in the Quit India Movement (1942) for which she was imprisoned. In 1937, she was elected to the Bombay Legislative Assembly.
