Leela Damodara Menon
Leela Damodara Menon, 1923- , political and social worker. A native of Kerala, she was an active participant in ‘Quit India’ Movement of 1942, distributing banned literature. She later became closely associated with many social and political organizations and was honoured by the Kerala government for her social and political work in 1973. She was a member of Kerala Legislative Assembly from 1947 to 1952, and was elected to the Rajya Sabha in 1974. She also attended the session on Human Rights Commission, Geneva (1971) and New York (1972) and was elected its Vice-President at Geneva (1973).
