Malika-i-Jahan
Malika-i-Jahan, later 13th cent., Khilji princess, queen of Sultan Jal-ud-din Firuz (d. 1296). A very domineering woman, she made the life of her son-in-law, Ala-ud-din Khilji, so miserable that he left Delhi in 1291 to become the governor of Kara, near Allahabad, U. P. After the murder of her husband, she tried to put her own son, Rukn-ud-Din on the throne, and to capture all powers for herself, ignoring the claims of Arkali Khan, the eldest son of the Sultan. She and her son, however, were completely ousted, and compelled to flee to Multan (July 1296).
