Maniben Kara
Maniben Kara, 1905- , labour leader. Originally a Congress worker of Bombay, she became very active in labour movement, and was a veteran trade union leader. She was the president of All India Trade Union Congress (1936) and of other labour organizations. She was also a member of the Legislative Assembly of India in 1944. She became a close associate of M. N. Roy and was a strong supporter of India’s participation in World War II on the side of the allies, and a vehement critic of the Quit India Movement of 1942, and of the Congress policies.
