Manmohini Zutshi Sahgal
Manmohini Zutshi Sahgal, 1909- , political and social worker. Daughter of Lado Rani Zutshi and Ladli Prasad Zutshi, a. relation of Motilal Nehru, she became a political activist while yet a student. She was arrested in 1930, and again in January 1931, for her role in Civil Disobedience Movement, and was released only after the Gandhi-Irwin Pact. She was arrested yet again in March 1932, for defying the older of Punjab Government and sentenced to one year’s rigorous imprisonment. After her marriage in 1935, her political activities were much curtailed. Still she continued to be a prominent social worker and represented Indian women in the talks with Sir Stafford Cripps in 1946, and was also a delegate to the Asian Relations. Conference held at New Delhi in 1947. Her services to the country were recognized through a Tamrapatra (inscribed copper-plate).
