Rani Bhabani
Rani Bhabani, 18th cent., philanthrophist. Wife of Ramakant (d. 1746) of the Nator estate of north Bengal, her husband proved to be incapable and she herself took over the management of the estate and made it one of the most flourishing and richest in Bengal. She gave liberally to charities and built many temples and ghats at Varanasi and elsewhere. Her name is still a household word in Bengal.
