Sachidevi
Sachidevi, 1485, Vaishnava devotee, mother of Sri Chaitanya. She was the daughter of Nilambar Chakravarti of Nadia and was married to Jaggannath Mishra, a Brahmin of humble means. Her life was very tragic her eight infant daughters died in succession, and her next issue, a son, Vishwarupa became a monk, when Chaitanya was yet a child. She lavished all her affections on the education of Chaitanya, then called Vishwambhara, who too became a monk and foresook her home. All her sons died before her.
