Sarada Devi
Sarada Devi, 1853-1920, saint. Daughter of Ramachandra Mukhopadhya and Shyamasundari Devi, a poor but pious Bramhin couple of Bengal in Jayarambati, Bankura district of Bengal, she was married at a very early age in 1859 to Gadadhar Chattopadhya, later famous as Shri Ramakrishna Paramhausa. She was converted to her husband’s spiritual life in 1872 at Dakshineshwar. She became her most faithful devotee, and when she became a widow in 1886, she devoted all her life to the service of her husband’s mission and in acts of religious piety. She was later hailed as the Holy Mother.
