Sati-un-Nissa
Sati-un-Nissa, early 17th cent., theologian and teacher. Daughter of a famous Persian physician in the times of Jehangir, her brother was also the poet-laureate to the emperor. Herself a profound scholar, and a talented woman, she entered the services of Mumtaz Mahal (d. 1631) and became her most trusted confidante and supervised all her charitable work. She was also the tutor to Jahanara, the daughter of the empress. She accompanied the dead body of the empress from Burhanpur to Agra, in December 1631.
