Savitri Bai
Savitri Bai, 1677, Mahratha warrior. Wife of the Thanedar of Belvadi, near Belgaum, she, along with her husband, offered resistance to Shivaji when he was returning to his homeland from Tanjore in 1677. The post could be taken from her only after a month’s efforts, when the lady was made a prisoner.
