Swaroop Rani Nehru
Swaroop Rani Nehru, 1869-1938, Political and social worker. Wife of Motilal Nehru, and mother of Jawaharlal Nehru, she, along with her husband gave up a life of luxury to join the freedom movement. In April 1932 she was injured in a lathi-charge and was arrested in 1933 when on her way to Calcutta to attend the Congress session there.
