Ignace Jan Paderewski
Ignace Jan Paderewski, (1860-1941). Polish pianist and statesman. He made his debut in Vienna in 1887 and over the next few years established himself internationally, especially as an interpreter of Chopin. During World War I he toured the US to raise funds for Polish war victims. In 1919 he became the first prime minister of free: Poland but resigned the same year and returned to his musical career. Of his own compositions, only the Minuet in G is widely known.
