Jethro Tull
Jethro Tull, (1674-1741). English agriculturalist. In 1701 he invented a seed drill that sowed seed mechanically in neat rows; having observed farming techniques abroad, he also used a horse-drawn hoe to loosen soil around the crops. He published Horse-hoeing Husbandry in 1733. Although his novel ideas were criticized by other farmers, they were eventually adopted.
