Altman, Robert
Altman, Robert (1922), US film director, screen-writer, and producer. Altman worked in the film business for many years before making his name with the Korean War comedy M*A•S*H (1972). His subsequent films include the highly praised Nashville (1975), The Player (1992), Short Cuts (1994), and Pret-a-Porter (1995). A prolific and unpredictable’ film-maker, he is considered one of Hollywood’s true mavericks.
