Andrew Marvell
Andrew Marvell, (1621-78). English poet. In his time he was best known as a political writer and pamphleteer, most of his poems being published after his death. He was Cromwell’s Latin secretary from 1657, in which role he assisted the blind Milton, and MP for Hull from 1659. His poems include ‘The Garden’ and ‘To His Coy Mistress’.
