Angelico, Fra
Angelico, Fra, real name Guido di Pietro (BC 1400-55), Italian religious artist and Dominican friar. He led a simple, quiet, and virtuous life, earning the name Angelico (`angelic’) after his death. Some of his frescoes can be seen in the monastery of S. Marco, Florence, and in a chapel of the Vatican. His other paintings include The Coronation of the Virgin, which is now in the Louvre.
