Arthur
Arthur (5th-6th century AD), A semi-legendary war leader of the Britons, known as King Arthur. His victories against the invading Saxons temporarily halted their settlement in south-west England. Subsequently Welsh, Breton, French, and English poets and romancers surrounded his name with legends, such as those of his magic sword Excalibur, his court at Camelot (perhaps the hill-fort of South Cadbury in Somerset), and his knights of the Round Table. A tomb at Glastonbury supposed to be his was opened in 1191.
