Beatrice Webb
Webb, Sidney, Baron Passfield (1859-1947) and his wife Beatrice (1858-1943). British social reformers and historians. Sidney Webb was a founder member of the socialist Fabian Society, while Beatrice studied social problems. In 1894 they collaborated on the classic History of Trade Unionism. Their other books included English Local Government (1906-29) and Soviet Communism (1935). They were involved in the establishment of the London School of Economics (1895), and they founded the New Statesman magazine (1913).
