Eugene lonesco
Eugene lonesco, (1912-94). French dramatist. Born in Romania, he lived in France from 1938 until his death. His plays, which include The Bald Primadonna (1950) and The Chairs (1952), are early examples of the Theatre of the Absurd. In Rhinoceros (1959), a satirical attack on conformity, all but one of the inhabitants of a town gradually turn into rhinoceroses. Later plays include Journey Among the Dead (1982).
