Genghis Khan
Genghis Khan, meaning universal ruler, given to Temujin (1162-1227). As leader of the Mongol nomads of central Asia, he showed great skill in the organization and leadership of his warrior horsemen, and subdued China and all Asia north of the Himalayas. The policy of wholesale massacre that he maintained during his invasion of India, Iran, and southern Russia gave him a reputation for systematic brutality. He died after falling from a horse.
