George Eastman
George Eastman (1854-1932), US inventor of the Kodak roll film camera Eastman developed a process for making dry photographic plates in 1880 and subsequently pioneered the use of transparent photo-graphic film. The first Kodak camera was marketed in 1888; the company also provided a developing and printing service and Eastman acquired a virtual monopoly of popular mass-market photography. In 1924 he gave half of his fortune to educational beneficiaries.
