Giovanni Bellini
Giovanni Bellini (1430-1516), Venetian painter. He came from an artistic family, his father Jacopo and his elder brother Gentile both being accomplished painters. Giovanni painted many devotional works for churches, such as The Agony in the Garden and St Jerome (1513), which are noted for the naturalistic landscapes in which the figures are placed. He also painted portraits of the doges of Venice and semi-mythological subjects such as Feast of the Gods (1514).
