Horace
Horace, full name Quintus Horatius Flaccus (65-08 BO. Roman poet. Although an exclave, his father gave him an upper-class education. Having served in Brutus’s army, Horace was deprived of his property after Brutus’s defeat at Philippi. His friend Virgil brought his early writings to the notice of Augustus’s minister Maecenas, who was greatly impressed by his work.
