Joe Montana
Joe Montana, (1956— ). US American football player. Montana grew up in the Pittsburgh area and showed early promise as an all-round athlete. Despite his small physique, he chose football rather than baseball, basketball, or athletics, in which he also excelled. In 1979 he was recruited by the San Francisco 49ers. Playing as a quarterback, he set a series of records for completed passes and became famous for his knack of saving the day in the last moments of a match. The 49ers took the NFL Superbowl title in 1982, 1985, and 1989. He moved to the Kansas City Chiefs in 1993.
