Joseph Goebbels
Joseph Goebbels (1897-1945), German Nazi politician. In 1926 Hitler appointed him Nazi party leader in Berlin; following the Nazi takeover in 1933, he became minister of public enlightenment and propaganda. As such he had total control over the press, literature, radio, films, and theatre for Nazi propaganda purposes. As World War II drew to a close, he remained with Hitler in his besieged bunker in Berlin. On the capture of that city, Goebbels committed suicide, together with his wife and six children.
