Marx Brothers
Marx Brothers, A family of US film comedians. The three principal members of the team were Groucho, born Julius Marx (1890-1977); Harpo, born Adolph Marx (1888-1964); and Chico, born Leonard Marx (1886-79). Zeppo, born Herbert Marx (1901-79), appeared in the first five Marx Brothers’ films as the romantic lead. Each brother had a distinctive image. Groucho was known for his rapid wisecracks, peculiar walk, painted moustache, and cigar. Harpo was a mute with a talent for harp-playing. Chico had an Italian accent and played the piano. Their films include Animal Crackers (1930), Horse Feathers (1932), and A Night at the Opera (1935).
