Niccolo Paganini
Niccolo Paganini, (1782-1840). Italian violinist. He first appeared in public at the age of 11. After studying in Parma he made the first of many European tours and was soon hailed as the greatest violinist of his time. His incredible virtuosity and dark gaunt appearance gave rise to the story that he was in league with the devil. He composed numerous works for the violin and was also a brilliant guitarist.
