Robert Helpmann
Robert Helpmann (1909-86). Australian ballet dancer, choreographer, and actor. He was the principal male dancer of the Sadler’s Wells Ballet (1933-50) and the choreographer of Miracle in the Gorbals (1944) and other ballets. One of his greatest roles as a dancer was Dr Coppelius in Coppelia (1940). He also acted in a number of. Shakespearean roles and appeared in several films, including The Tales of Hoffmann (1950) and The Quiller Memorandum (1966).
