Sir Anthony Hopkins
Sir Anthony Hopkins, (1937- ). British film and stage actor. Born in South Wales, Hopkins trained at RADA and made his stage debut in 1960. His first film was The Lion in Winter (1968). During the 1970s and 1980s he worked mainly in US television. International stardom came late, with his performance as a serial killer in The Silence of the Lambs (1991), a role that earned him an Oscar. He was knighted the following year. His other films include The Bounty (1984), Howard’s End (1992), and Shadow lands (1994), in which he played the writer C. S. Lewis.
